Awareness

To bring awareness to a gender gap extant in STEM fields and education across the globe, the United Nations established February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (IDWGIS) in 2015.

Inclusivity

The goals of this annual observance are to empower women and girls, advance gender equality, and help address persistent underrepresentation of and biases against women and girls in STEM disciplines globally.

You can also explore UNESCO’s latest Science Report here. Chapter 3 provides data on gender disparities in areas like research funding, or presence in technical and leadership roles.
