Nucleic Acid Panel Designs
DNA
Twist's custom DNA target enrichment panels offer innovative approaches for your research needs. Our team of bioinformatic scientists collaborate with you to design bespoke panels tailored to your specific biological questions. Utilizing innovative strategies, such as our probe shifter technology, we ensure the highest performance and precision in your custom panels.
RNA
RNA custom target enrichment panels are designed to capture and enrich libraries that have been converted to cDNA for next-generation sequencing (NGS). Twist’s team of bioinformatic scientists utilize novel RNA design strategies, such as exon-aware placement, to provide you with more of the transcription insights you need from your experiments.
METHYLATION
Methylation target enrichment panels are designed to capture libraries treated to reveal the DNA methylation signature. Twist’s novel design approach achieves exceptional uniformity and retains the methylation pattern by printing four different probe species for each target: fully methylated and fully unmethylated sense and antisense probes.
What Scientists Have to Say
Twist sales may make absurd claims about how good Twist Custom Panels are, but we have found no reason to dispute those claims. We didn’t believe it until we ran their panel ourselves. Our last run had an average uniformity of 99.5%, meaning that you can drop your average coverage right down. We’ve basically doubled the number of samples we can fit on a run.

Scientist, Neurogenetics Unit, Department of Diagnostic Genomics PathWest Laboratory Medicine, Australia
Other companies were cutting costs and focusing more on fitting everything into one box rather than working with customers to devise custom probes that fit their highly specific research needs. Twist bucked the trend.”
LYDIA SMITH
Evolutionary Genetics Lab Manager, UC Berkeley
Twist’s Custom Panels allowed us to focus on important, medically relevant genes instead of forcing us to work with a whole genome. The panel was concise, with a simple protocol and cost was reasonable with very good candidate variants already curated by the literature.”

Meet Some of Our Experts
Chayan Roy
Bioinformatic Application Scientist
After earning his Ph.D. from Bose Institute, India, Chanyan conducted research at the University of Copenhagen, Western University of Health Sciences, and SDSU. Chanyan is motivated by helping customers with uniquely designed panels which empower researchers and clinicians to pinpoint disease-causing variants in the genomic haystack. Chanyan loves exploring new places and cuisines, and he’s a huge science fiction fan—though he prefers Asimov and Clarke over DC and Marvel.
Owen Hardy
Senior Bioinformatics Application Scientist
Owen studied Biological Sciences at Cornell University when Sanger sequencing gels were a thing, and joined the Biotech community out of graduate school as Next Generation Sequencing began. Target enrichment has been the heart and soul of his job for the last 15 years. At Twist, he’s motivated by working with customers everyday who are at the forefront of diverse and novel applications, and proud to be a part of their projects from the initial design stages to sequencing success. In his spare time Owen can be found in his garden and enjoys all things space and astronomy.
